A Myth of Shakespeare
by Charles Williams
There is no thesis in this play about Shakespeare's life, character, or genius, except that he was a born poet and a working playwright. The included scenes were, quite legendarily, intended to represent barely possible events in his life, passages read by friends or associates, or performances in his theater. - Charles Williams, adapted from a note, was one of the best - not to mention one of the most unusual theologians of the twentieth century. His mysticism is obvious - the invisible world is intertwined at our point, and spiritual change takes place continuously, invisibly, and in many ways unnoticed. His novels are legendary, his poems are profound, and as a member of the Ink tankers, he contributed to a mitopoetic revival in modern culture.
