An Enemy of the People
by Henrik Ibsen
Dr. Stockmann is trying to uncover the water pollution scandal in his hometown, which is about to establish itself as a spa. When his brother, the mayor, collaborates with local politicians and a newspaper to suppress the story, Stockmann turns to public gatherings — only to be shouted and despised as the "enemy of the people." Ibsen's explosive play reveals his distrust of politicians and the prejudices blindly held by the "hard majority."
