Beric the Briton
by G. A. Henty
The invasion of Britain by Roman legionnaires is the setting for this story. Berich, the child leader of the British tribe, plays an important role in the rebellion against Rome in Boadicea. These efforts were in vain against the powerful Roman army. For a short time, Berich and his friends continue to fight, but are eventually defeated and take the prisoners to Rome. Through Berich's eyes, the reader learns about life in Rome, the gladiatorial schools, the great fire and life in Nero's palace. This classic work, made by the skillful hand of G. A. Henti, will shed light on a very abandoned event in history today.
