Bring Me His Ears
by Clarence E. Mulford
It's the early 1840s and the west is opening. The wagons go to Oregon Territory, and Texas is still an independent republic. Tom Boyd is pushed to Santa Fe Street by the Governor of New Mexico, Mexico. Boyd slaps the man in the face and pursues his life. The agents are sent after Boyd with one command: "Bring him alive or bring me his ears!" Boyd decides that Oregon is much safer than New Mexico until a chance encounter with a young woman changes his fate.
