Crito

by Plato

"Crito" is a short but important dialogue of the ancient Greek philosopher Plato. This is a conversation between Socrates and his rich friend Crito about justice (δικη), injustice (αδικια), and the reaction to injustice. Socrates believes that injustice may not be reciprocated by injustice, and rejects Crito's offer to finance his escape from prison. This dialogue involves a long-standing expression of the government's social contract theory.
