Dawn
by Eleanor H. Porter
Although dramatically different from author Eleanor H. Porter's globally acclaimed book Pollyanna, the gripping novel Dawn encompasses some of the same themes as its predecessor, including the importance of always maintaining an optimistic outlook on life, no matter how terrible circumstances you face. The action takes place against the backdrop of the First World War, the main character of the novel is a young man whose vision is gradually humiliating. Will he continue to wallow in despair, or will the rapist find a way to accept his blindness?
