Don Quixote, Part 2
by Miguel de Cervantes
Alonso Kixano is a small landowner who has read so many stories of chivalry that he descends into fantasy and makes sure he is a losing knight. Together with his friend Sancho Panza, Don Quixote de la Mancha, which bears his name, embarks on an adventure quest. His "lady" is Dulcinea del Toboso, an imaginary object of palace love, and was created from a nearby farm girl who was struck by illusions as a "knight". This sequel was released ten years after the original novel, and although the first part is mostly ridiculous, this second half is more serious and philosophical about the subject of infidelity. He explores the concept of character that he wrote about, an idea that was much researched in the 20th century. Don Quixote's 1. Section is also available.
