Last Tales
by Isak Dinesen
The Last Tales is a collection of the last twelve tales written by Isaac Desen before his death in 1962. These include seven tales from Albondokan , a anticipated novel that has never been completed but that has occupied the author for many years; "Caryatids" is an unfinished Gothic story about an ancient letter and a couple besieged by gypsy magic; and three new winter stories (including "Night Talk in Copenhagen" — a drunk, all-night conversation between a boy-king, one, and a poor young poet), each expressed in a fluid, magnetic style that constantly draws us into his work.
