Lieutenant Hornblower
by C. S. Forester
The dawns of the nineteenth century and the Napoleonic Wars rage when the Horatio Hornblower gives his orders to the Caribbean Sea and its dangerous waters. The last ship of The New Lieutenant Hornblower is HMS Famous, a solid ship whose captain is unfortunately a rather stupid mind. When he is ordered to attack the Spanish anchorage, the chain of command is disrupted, and this requires all the naval cunning of the Hornblower to prevent disaster. As the guns steal and the pieces fly in his besieged ship, and the men have to practice in cramped neighborhoods, the young lieutenant knows he must prove himself as the master of the high sea in order to save his ship and crew.
