Little Brother
by Cory Doctorow
Marcus, aka "w1n5t0n", is only seventeen years old, but he believes he already knows how the system works and how to work with it. Wise to the roads of a smart, fast, and networked world, he has no problem leaving behind his high school's obsessive but cumbersome surveillance systems. But when he is trapped with his friends after a major terrorist attack in San Francisco, his whole world changes. Marcus and his team are taken into custody by the Department of Homeland Security in the wrong place at the wrong time and taken to a secret prison, where they are brutally interrogated for days. When the DHS finally releases them, Marcus discovers that his city has become a police state where every citizen is treated as a potential terrorist. He knows no one will believe his story, which leaves him with only one option: toppling the CRL itself. For more information about this name, visit the official Cory Doctorow website.
