Major Wilbraham
by Hugh Walpole
Wilbraham was obviously an emotionalist and enthusiastic; Shortly after I met him for the first time in the X. Championship, there was an extraordinary situation, a man who got caught on a card and received a year in prison for it. When X. got out of jail, Wilbraham defended and defended him, putting him in his rooms on Duke Street for months, walking as often as possible in his company in Piccadilly, and taking him to Paris. This says a lot about Wilbraham's acknowledged normalcy and overall popularity, this X. championship didn't hurt him anything. It's true that some guys mumbled something about "feathered birds," and one or two good friends warned Wilbraham to be a good friend.
