Measure for Measure
by William Shakespeare
In the duke's absence in Vienna, his strict assistant Angelo revives an old law that forbids sexual intercourse outside marriage. Young Claudio, whose bride is pregnant, is sentenced to death by law. Her sister Isabella, who will soon become a nun, begs Lord Angelo for her brother's life. But his naivety worries Angelo so much that he offers him a terrible deal - Isabella will save Claudio if he visits him that night.
