Men Like Gods
by H. G. Wells
Mr. Barnstapple has always been a very careful driver, taking care to point before each maneuver and committing himself to slowing down at the slightest sign of difficulty. Could he get the car into the sled at a bend in Maiden's Road? When he recovered, he was a little relieved to see the two cars he was following, still moving joyfully in front of him. Everything seemed to be fine - except that the landscape changed quite a lot. That's when the terrible truth came out: Mr. Barnstable was often thrown into another world. How would he get rid of this supposed utopia and, more importantly, how would he return?
