The book is divided into three sections: Matching's Easy At Ease, where an American visitor arrives at Mr. Dierek's Britling home in the summer of 1914; Matching's "Easy at War", set in the first months of the war; The book was one of the most popular novels in the United Kingdom during the war and vividly evokes the battle experience from the Home Front.
