Oregon and Eldorado
by Thomas Bulfinch
A series of romantic adventures are connected to each of the Colombian and Amazon rivers. In my few works that portray the magnificent legends of distant ages, I hope that young readers who have so positively embraced my past attempts to cheer them up and mentor them will find these true stories of bold adventures, whose history is relatively new, no less appealing. Moreover, their scenes are laid out in one case, in our own country; and on the other hand, in the great and rising empire of Brazil, where our famous naturalist Professor Agassiz went to the volume of science.
