Romeo and Juliet

A tragedy written early in the career of playwright William Shakespeare about two young "lovers crossed by the stars" who unite their fighting families at the end of their deaths. It was one of the most popular plays in Shakespeare's life and one of his most frequently staged. Today, the main characters are considered archetypal young lovers. He's only fourteen years old, he's only a few years older. Their families are implacable enemies who swear hate. Nevertheless, Romeo and Juliet meet and fall passionately in love. They secretly marry, defying their parents' desires, but their brief happiness is shattered by fate.
