Ruth Fielding of the Red Mill

Ruth Fielding, a newly orphaned girl, arrives in Cheslow, New York, to live with her uncle Jabez Potter and her aunt Alvira Boggs, a housekeeper in The Red Mill. Ruth is very disappointed with the cold reception she receives. Uncle Jabez seems to care very little about him, and all he has to say is that he has to make money on his hands. Uncle Yabetsu becomes even more difficult after his cash register is lost during a flood.
