Selected Short Stories of Sinclair Lewis
by Sinclair Lewis
Many major novels among Sinclair Lewis are more than a hundred short stories he wrote over forty-four years. The stories selected include those chosen by Lewis himself and show a wide range of his art and interest: romantic fantasy or escape stories, melodramas of a heroic or cynical heroic adventure, stories about a girl who meets a man, satires of imitation and stupidity, stories of isolation and loneliness. Lewis often played variations on more developed themes in his novels. E.M. Forster: What Lewis has done for himself and for thousands of others is to implant a piece of the continent into our imaginations.
