This story was first published in Omni Magazine in April 1986; and Mirrorshades: An Anthology of Cyberpunk, in 1986. The dark flesh in the jar - brown, fatty and stained with mucus - emitted a repulsive, fishy smell, and its taste rose in the throat, rotten and bitter, like something from the stomach of a dead man.
