The Europeans
by Henry James
Eugenia, a Baroness divorced from a German prince, and her bohemian brother Felix return to America. Raised and cultured in Europe, they return to New England impoverished in search of their rich and innocent cousins. Eugene catches the attention of Robert Acton, the most suitable suitor in the area, and also seduces his little cousin Clifford. But his alien nobility and audacity stir up the Puritan traditions of the New World. On the other hand, Felix's luxurious romantic ways are well-known among American women. But different kinds of misunderstandings complicate their plans. Within the triangles of cultural conflict and love, Europeans hang their wealth on the ability to adapt. Where the plan takes them is the last place they wait.
