The First Men In The Moon
by H. G. Wells
When Mr. Bedford, a penniless businessman, retreats to Kent's shore to write a play, he accidentally meets the brilliant Dr. Cavor, a scientist who is not on the verge of developing a material that blocks gravity. Cawor soon succeeds in his experiments, but he tells a bewildered Bedford that the discovery has made possible one of humanity's oldest dreams: a trip to the moon. Motivated by Bedford's money and Kavor's desire for knowledge, they embark on an expedition. But none of them are ready for what they find; a world of cold nights, boiling days, and sinister alien lives that they can trap forever.
