The Further Adventures of Robinson Crusoe

by Daniel Defoe

Returning home safely, Crusoe marries and starts a family. But despite his prosperous life, he finds nothing to challenge him and suffers from a burning desire to return to the sea. Although his wife begged him not to go, Crusoe and her husband set sail on Friday. When they reach the island, they are surprised to see that everything has changed dramatically. When Crusoe and Friday go to the mainland, they are attacked by evil cannibals and killed on Friday. Overwhelmed with grief over the loss of his faithful servant and friend, Crusoe embarks on a long journey around the world. His travels take him from Brazil and Madagascar to places as far away as Siberia and China. As we continue the journey, it seems that he is happiest when he wanders, and we begin to wonder if he will ever return home again.
