The Lost Continent
by Edgar Rice Burroughs
Year - 2137. Two hundred years ago – in our time, more or less – Eurasia waged war to end all wars; it was a war, with all intents and purposes, that meant the end of the Old World. Americans managed to preserve their civilization — but only by venturing into the most extreme form or isolationism imaginable for two centuries has now dared to move east of the thirtieth parallel. "East for east..." The slogan continued: "West for the West!" until a terrible storm at sea forced American Lieutenant Jefferson Turk to disobey the law, seeking a safe haven in Britain – discovering that two centuries of isolation had devastated the country. The damaged ship found Europe, which is no longer an enemy – a ruined country that can certainly not be an enemy – or a friend.
