The Madman and the Pirate
by R. M. Ballantyne
Crazy, Antonio Zeppa is abandoned on Ratings, an island in the Pacific Ocean where a miserable ancient pirate named Richard Roscoe later emerged. They start a kind of love-hate relationship. The locals set fire to burn Roscoe at the stake, but he was rescued by Zeppa, who carried him to his cave in the mountains and cared for his injured legs. Eventually, a ship with Zeppa's son on board enters the island. Since then, the story comes to an end and everyone who was there has safely returned home to England.
