The Moon Endureth
by John Buchan
Dealing mainly with the mysterious and incomprehensible, these stories take the reader to a strange, unexplored frontier region swung by psychic supernatural or invisible forces. They are full of secrets, romance and adventure. What contrasts with such fairy tales are realistic tales of both the past and the present. Both types of stories will appeal to those with a discriminatory literary taste. Many of these stories, when they first appeared in magazines, were glorified as works with rare originality and figurative power. One critic went so far that a story called "Lemnian" is the best story in English.
