The Nine Tailors

Lord Peter Wimsey and his servant Bunther make a wrong turn towards the ditch in the middle of the wild plains of East Anglia. Across the stormy country, they fight to the nearest church, where they find hospitality, an invitation to go for dinner and search. This ancient art is fraught with mathematical challenges, and tonight the rector and his friends plan to go to a nine-hour marathon session to celebrate the New Year. Lord Peter joins them to step into a society whose cheerful outward appearance hides a dark, deadly past. During their time in this alien countryside, Lord Peter and Bunther face a murder, a mutilated corpse, and decades of jewelry theft for which the locals continue to die. In this land where bells are ringing for the dead, the ancient bells never seem to stop.
