The Oval Portrait
by Edgar Allan Poe
Our hero hides in an abandoned castle and discovers a room with a series of paintings, accompanied by a small book describing them. His attention is attracted by an oval portrait depicting a young woman of rare beauty. The book tells how the artist fell in love with the mountains and married her. Soon after, the girl realized that her husband was already married to art. When a painter decides to draw his wife and at the same time does not realize that as the days go by, he becomes more and more upset. When the portrait was finished, he was shocked to see that his wife's picture was much, much more than just a reality.
