The Republic
by Plato
"The Republic" is a Socratic dialogue written by Plato around 360 BC. It is one of the most influential works of philosophy and political theory, and perhaps Plato's most famous work. In it, Socrates and various other Athenians and foreigners discuss the meaning of justice and whether a just person is happier than an unjust person, building an imaginary city ruled by philosophers-kings. The dialogue also discusses the nature of the philosopher, the Platonic "Theory of Forms", the conflict between philosophy and poetry, the immortality of the soul. (source: Wikipedia)
