The Sea Lady
by H. G. Wells
For the fashionable and wealthy Randolph Bunting, it was another day on the beach - this was until Fred noticed a mysterious woman in a red dress and a Phrygian swimsuit struggling in the sea. Embarking on a bold and daring rescue attempt, Fred continued on his way and brought him safely ashore. The family gave a warm applause - after all, there was no such excitement every day. But then they realized that this lady was not completely "normal" - in fact, to be precise, she had a tail. Because it seemed that Randolph Bunting was visited by a mermaid.
