The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde

by Robert Louis Stevenson

Good and bad, right and wrong. Both are seen through the eyes of John Utterson, a friend of Dr. Jekyll, a lawyer and scientist. After hearing a disturbing account of a little girl being trampled horribly "like a damn juggler" by a ruthless man named Mr. Hyde, who is also connected to a lawyer's dear friend, Utterson's curiosity builds even more for him and he launches an investigation. Further investigating Mr. Hyde's events and secret life, Utterson gradually uncovers a terrifying and terrifying story. The young Robert Louis Stevenson suffered from repeated nightmares of living a double life, working as a respected doctor by day and wandering the back streets of the old city of Edinburgh at night. In his crazy three-day post, he created a story about his long-awaited existence. His wife found it too terrible, so she immediately burned the manuscript. Three days later he wrote again. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was published in 1886 as "shilling shocking" and instantly became a classic.
