The Taming of the Shrew
by William Shakespeare
Known as Shakespeare's loudest comedy, The Taming of the Shrew is the story of two young men, the hopeful Lucentio and the earthly Petruchio, and two sisters they meet in Padua. Lucentio falls in love with Bianca, the ideal youngest daughter of the seemingly wealthy Baptiste Minola. But before they can get married, Bianca's tough older sister, Katherine, must get married. Interested only in a large dowry, Petruchio plans to marry Katherine – against her will – and enters the battle of the sexes, which she experiences as one of Shakespeare's most delightful works.
