The Thrall of Leif the Lucky
by Ottilie A. Liljencrantz
Leif Eriksson, also known as "Leif Lucky", was the second son of Eric the Red and certainly showed the Viking's spirit of adventure and discovery. In his youth, Leif Eriksson visited Norway, where he converted to Christianity. He has been accused of returning to Greenland to transform the population, but instead sailed farther west and is believed to have landed somewhere in Nova Scotia. He spent a year in North America before returning to Greenland, where he served as governor. The film Viking (1928) was based on this novel, which to some extent is based on the history of the Vikings.
