The Trial
by Franz Kafka
A terrible psychological journey into the life of Joseph K., an ordinary man who one day wakes up to be accused of a crime he did not commit, a crime whose nature was never revealed to him. After his arrest, he is released, but he must regularly report to the court - an incident that turns out to be crazy because nothing is solved. As he becomes increasingly uncertain about his fate, his personal life becomes increasingly unpredictable, including working in a bank and dealing with his mistress and a young woman living next door. While K. tries to take control, he only manages to accelerate his own unbearable downward spiral.
