The Virginians
by W. M. Thackeray
Henry Esmond's sequel is set in The Novel, as is much of its predecessor, especially in colonial Virginia. Virginians follow the lives of Henry Esmond's family and grandchildren from Castlewood, Virginia. Although Esmond's descendants took opposing positions during the American Revolution, they reconciled after the war, Harry became the owner of the family's estate in Virginia, and George became the owner of land and property in England.
