Collection of traditional fairy tales from the folklore of Russia, Germany, France, Iceland, America. Includes original 138 black and white illustrations. These books, assembled by Andrew Land, come from a number of different countries and have been translated by Lang's wife and other translators who have retold many stories. The collection was of numerous importance, and although it itself did not take stories directly from the oral tradition, many can argue that it was the first English translation.
