Two Gentlemen of Verona

by William Shakespeare

Two friends, Valentino and Proteus, temporarily move from Verona to Milan for training and development as adults. Valentino barely came to Milan because he fell in love with Sylvia, the daughter of a local duke. Proteus still lives in Verona, where he swore eternal allegiance to his beloved Julia. But when Proteus arrives in Milan, his heart melts behind Sylvia. What to do: julia being unfaithful, conquering Sylvia for herself, and depriving Valentino's best friend of her love? It generally agreed to be Shakespeare's first comedy and possibly his first play.
