White Fang
by Jack London
Even as a puppy, it differs from its fellows: among the litter of red-haired puppies, a large gray puppy with a faster bite and a heavier claw. Emerging from the protection of the secluded cave, he and his mother are captured by the firefighting gods - the animal people who live in tipei and determine that the puppy is half dog, half wolf and call it White Tooth. White Fang turns out to be ruthlessly exhausted by the tribe's domestic dogs and quickly learns to outdo them with cunning and evil. His cruelty is further encouraged when he is sold to a sadist who uses the dog's size and immense power to push him to death in dog fights. White Fang will go crazy until a young man arrives who offers him kindness and friendship. But friendship is something that White Fang doesn't understand... yet.
