Youth

Slim, an astronomer, is a boy whose father visits the country estate of an important industrialist. Red, the son of industrialists, found two strange animals and engaged to Slim to turn the animals into a circus act. Meanwhile, the astronomer tells an industrialist that he is in contact with space aliens who want to open their world to interstellar trade. Their world needs help, says the astronomer; Since the atomic wars that destroyed their ancient civilization, the world has declined. If something is not done, their culture could face complete collapse. Youth is one of Asimov's rare stories with alien characters. Safe and for children to read.
